ESSENTIALS: NICOLA FORMICHETTI

Merging eccentricity with a gifted sense of style, Nicola Formichetti has firmly established himself as one of today’s foremost fashion directors and stylists. Not solely off the strength of dressing the likes of Lady Gaga, Formichetti has garnered the reputation he has through his works with Vogue Hommes Japan, Uniqlo and Mugler, the latter of which he is the creative director for. Of Japanese-Italian descent, Formichetti has had the fortune of absorbing from both worlds, and although it came with struggle of finding identity, it has allowed him to accept a comedic and eclectic response which resonates through his designs.

Amidst the setup for his Nicopanda pop-up store at Lane Crawford, we were able to pull from Formichetti’s personals the very essentials he deems worthy to bring with him, even when he travels abroad. Included are notable brands like his vintage Chanel Backpack, Prada sunglasses, BYREDO perfume and Apple products that sit alongside his own Nicopanda plush, T-shirts and accessories. However it is the unusual Alexander Hitek cap and sandals that boasts the dynamism of Formichetti best.
